TIPS & TRICKS- MAKE A RESOLUTION FOR FAMILY MEALTIME

Make a Resolution for Family Mealtime!

It's a new year, and many people are making personal resolutions. Why not make a family resolution to spend more time together at the table? Hannah Keeley, Total Mom author and host of the public television series Hannah, Help Me! has some great time-saving tips to help you make family mealtime a reality.
PREpare Dinners. Set aside a few hours on Sunday to prepare meals that you can warm up on busy weeknights. Also, double recipes such as stews and soups so there are leftovers for later in the week.
Clean as You Go.  You can save time and sanity if you clean as you go:
  • Fill the sink with warm, soapy water so you can dunk and scrub tools and soak pots as you work
  • Empty the dishwasher and fill it up as you go
  • Let everyone bus his or her dish, utensils and glasses after meals
Lighten Up. Dinner doesn't have to be perfect, but it should be fun. Invite the kids to help you in the kitchen and be creative. Kids can scour for ingredients, mix together salads or measure out ingredients. Remember - your kids will be more likely to try foods they helped prepare, and they will be learning about nutrition and cooking from the best role model - you!
